7th grade (9/14 - 9/18)

Dear families and parents,

We have successfully completed another week! Thank you for your hard work and encouragement. As we navigate the Brick and Mortar & Distance learning in near future, we are excited for all the work ahead of us. We'll continue to keep in touch and make sure your kids are growing and learning every single day.

What's Happening Next Week?

In Mathematics this week, scholars will continue learning about positive and negative number. We'll learn to add, subtract, multiply, and divide positive and negative numbers. Moreover, we will work with negative exponents. Scholars are encouraged to attend open hours with questions they don't understand. However, open hours are not mandatory and do not contribute to their grades in any way whatsoever.

For literature, 7A  scholars will be discussing the last two chapters of the Call of The Wild in seminars. Scholars will continue memorizing the poem Pied Beauty. We will also be learning how to do research for writing a paper, including how to cite sources used and how to avoid plagiarism.

In 7B literature and composition, scholars will continue to read Call of the Wild. This week we will discuss chapter 6 in our Literature seminar on Tuesday. Scholars will be learning how to take notes from secondary sources as well as how to cite these sources.

In History, Scholars will study the Texas empresarios and American immigration to Texas under Mexico. We will discuss the differences between Mexican and American settlers in Texas.

The science class will continue to learn more about Kingdom Fungi. Specifically we will look at the ways in which fungi can be helpful or harmful to humans. On Thursday, scholars will have a test on the Kingdom Protista, Kingdom Fungi, and Symbiotic Relationships.
