7th grade (8/31 - 9/4)

Dear Parents and Families,

Happy Friday! We hope that the weekend offer us all respite and reflection to come back fresh and ready to learn next week. We are thankful for all your support, encouragement and trust in us. We are all a team! Let us continue working together with one goal - to instill in our students the virtues of Truth, Goodness and Beauty.

What's Happening Next Week?

This week in Science students will continue to expand their knowledge of cell organelles and their functions. Additionally, we will spend the week looking at our first biological kingdom, Kingdom Protista. Students will learn that while these organisms can be very small, they impact our lives every day.

Mathematics class will enter a new chapter with Decimal system next week. Students will learn about exponents, squares and cubes. Each scholar is encouraged to memorize all the squares of number 1 - 20 as we progress. We'll also re-learn rounding, Basic properties of Number and Simplifying expressions by the end of the week.

In 7B Literature, students will partake in a seminar on Chapter 4 of Call of the Wild. We will also be having our second discussion on "Pied Beauty" by Gerard Manley Hopkins this Thursday.

In 7A Literature, we are reading and discussing chapters 4&5 of Call of the Wild. Scholars will be writing their first paper. They will write an outline for it, proof a draft, and submit a final copy. Scholars will continue memorizing the first stanza of the poem ‘Pied Beauty.’

Further, History class will be studying Texas under Spanish rule and learn about the impact of the Mission system.

Until, next week!
