What's Happening this week?


Scholars will start a new Unit on Equations and Inequality in Mathematics class. We'll learn about transforming equations by addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Also, we'll be 
finding equivalent equation and learning the meaning of their equivalence. 

In Science this week, scholars will complete a tree "cookie" lab where they will examine and observe a cross section of a tree. We will also look at our fourth and final plant group, angiosperms. Scholars will learn about what makes flowering plants so unique and diverse. 

For literature and composition class, scholars will continue to read the short stories of Edgar Allan Poe. Scholars will be reading "The Fall of the House of Usher" and discussing the story in seminars on Tuesday and Thursday.  We will have more practice analyzing sentences that contain compound elements.

In History class, we will conclude our unit on the Texas Revolution and discuss the results of the Texan victory over the Mexican army at San Jacinto.
