A Note From 7th Grade Teachers

Dear Parents and Families,
We thank you for your hard work! We are humbled and honoured to have you trust us with your child. Marching into our third week, we are excited and encouraged to continue working hard to make the digital learning better for our scholars.
Sincerely,
Mr. White, Ms. Stevens and Ms. Baral

Announcements

1.  Please Check Important Dates and Information

2. Due to MAP testing, which is scheduled at the beginning of the week, there will be no zoom classes at all on Monday and Tuesday. Classes will resume on Wednesday.

 3. Scholars are not allowed to send photos of their assignments to other scholars under any circumstances. It is also unacceptable to copy another scholar's work, which will result in a score of zero on the assignment. We place expectation on our scholars to abide by the virtue of integrity and work independently from one another.

What's Happening Next Week?

For Literature and Composition, we will be having a seminar on Chapter Three of The Call of the Wild. We will start the second week of Writing with Skill. For Grammar, we will continue the practice of analyzing and diagramming sentences with adverbs.

In History this week, scholars will learn about the Spanish exploration of the Texas, studying primary sources recounting the expeditions of several Spanish explorers.

For Mathematics, students will finally learn problem solving strategies while translating word phrases into mathematical expressions. Further, we will also begin Decimal System by the end of the week. Students will learn various measuring units. Parents are encouraged to teach their scholar measurement units (such as the units of length, time, weight, currency) as they encounter these in everyday life.

This week in Science, we will learn about the different types of cells (prokaryotic and eukaryotic). We will also study about different organelles that can be found in eukaryotic cells. Further, we will compare the plant cells and animal cells and see their differences
and similarities.
Students will also have the opportunity to make their own cell diagrams. We'll complete a cell analogy project to help remember the different functions of the organelles that are found in the cell.
